Zofia Błażko

Zofia Błażko, born in 1986 in Gdynia, is one of the most compelling painters of the younger generation, whose work draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Art Deco.

She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk with a degree in Painting and also completed undergraduate studies in Photography, followed by postgraduate studies in Art Therapy at the Medical University of Gdańsk.

After completing her studies, inspired by the life and work of the great French painters, she moved to Paris to undertake an artist residency at Jour et Nuit Culture. In recognition of her artistic talent and dedication, she became the first Polish artist to be invited to design and execute the decoration of the six-storey façade at 59 Rue de Rivoli, one of the most iconic centres of contemporary artistic life in Paris.

In search of new artistic inspiration, Błażko participated in international artist residencies in Dakar (Senegal) in 2015, followed by the Shangyuan Art Museum in Beijing, and later the St. Petersburg Art Residency in 2018.

Despite her young age, she has presented her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally, including London, St. Petersburg, Tirana, Dakar, Beijing, Singapore, and Paris.

Zofia Błażko is regarded as one of the most promising and internationally recognised contemporary Polish artists. In the Kompas Sztuki 2017 ranking, published by the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, she was ranked 47th among the most outstanding Polish artists active on the art market since 1945.
