Jacek Szymański, born in Poznań, is an outstanding photographer, reporter, and documentarian.
In 1986, he emigrated to Canada, where he spent 36 years working as a reporter, editor, and film producer for the Canadian Ministry of Defense and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN Broadcast Unit).
Professionally, through his photographs and films, he portrays the daily life, struggles, and achievements of Canadian sailors during their missions around the world—from the Arctic to tropical oceans, from New York to Odesa. At the same time, in his private life, he continues to develop his photographic and filmmaking skills, capturing snapshots of unforgettable places, events, encounters, and people.
Photography and film are not just his profession but, above all, his passion, which continues to shape his life.
The films he co-created have gained recognition at international festivals such as the GI Film Festival in Washington, the International Military Film Festival “Armed Forces and People” in Italy, and the International Festival of Historical and Military Films in Warsaw. There, in consecutive years, he was awarded the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Sabers and received the Gold Medal in the short film category for Arctic Experience.
Jacek Szymański currently lives in Poland, dividing his professional life between two continents.
